Hear poetry inspired from the Flathead Indian Reservation

Poet JESSICA JONES at the Wolf Creek Trading Company
Friday, February 24, 2017
7:30-9:00 PM

When Jones left the buzzing college town of Missoula, Montana to teach 6th grade English on the Flathead Indian Reservation, she had no idea what she was getting into.  Grizzly bears, wood heat, wiley students and an extra hour of winter darkness quickly drew her into two years of non-stop adventure.  Come to the Wolf Creek Trading Company to hear her read from her book-in-progress, Poems from the Flathead.

Jessica Jones teaches writing full-time at Kent State University and has served as Writer in Residence for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio and for Calcutta Mercy Hospital in India.  Her work, which centers on social justice, mindfulness and environmentalism, has been published in Poems Across the Big Sky: An Anthology of Montana Poets, The Journal of the Assembly for Expanded Perspectives on Learning, and the Ohio Journal of English Language Arts.  She holds a Masters in Literature from the University of Montana and training in Indian Education for All.

This event is free and you can bring whatever you like to drink.   It is family friendly and, as always, you can bring a dish to share if you like!!
