Ready for some Liquid Sunshine?

"Seeing the molten glaze when we open the kiln is called 'liquid sunshine'"- Bob Yost.

We are so excited to announce our next Sharing Knowledge Workshop here at Wolf Creek Trading on Saturday, October 22, and even more excited that it will be a Raku pottery firing with Bob Yost!

What is Raku?

Raku is a Japanese firing technique of pulling the pottery out of the kiln when the glaze matures. After pulling the pottery out of the kiln, it will be set into a container filled with a combustible, leaves, sawdust, pine needles, which will ignite. We will then lid the container. The flame needs oxygen to burn so it goes to the pottery for oxygen. This starves the glaze of oxygen and changes copper blues and greens to yellows, oranges and reds and a variety of metallics. We then quench the pottery into water to set the glaze. What to expect?
The unexpected.
Glaze your piece and watch it go through this exciting process and take it home a couple hours later.  Here is a link to the highlights of our last raku at Wolf Creek Trading, just in case you missed it. We had a blast!

Click on the Events/Classes tab at the top of the page for all the details.  You will have a chance to pre-register, and get a 25% discount off the price of the workshop/firing/piece. Totally worth it!
The event starts at 3 pm, rain or shine.  Bring a friend with you and share with them how great it feels to be a part of the experience at Wolf Creek Trading Co.
